That is exactly the reason for today’s piece: to help make decluttering your home less overwhelming (and a lot quicker). Our advice? Take just 5 minutes. It might seem like nothing considering you have an entire house to get through, but it’ll make a dent in today’s clutter. And another 5-minute dent in tomorrow’s. And the day after that..

1. Declutter your home: Set up a no-clutter space
© homify / 4D Studio Architects and Interior Designers 1. Declutter your home: Set up a no-clutter spaceTo start off, you need one no-clutter space that is going to remain clean and neat, no matter what. This can be anything from a kitchen counter or a hallway credenza to your living room’s coffee table.
Take your 5 minutes and start decluttering that space. Weather guru 1 8 download free. Then, commit to keeping it free of clutter each and every day while also expanding your no-clutter zone (to, say, include the entire living room).
2. Declutter your home: Clear off a surface

One of your main goals is to have all your home’s flat surfaces devoid of clutter. Of course you can still leave a handful of accessories (like a toaster on the kitchen counter or a beautiful vase with candles on one of the bedside tables in the guest bedroom).
When you’re finished what said surface (which shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes), commit to clearing off another flat surface for tomorrow’s 5 minutes. And the day after that..
3. Declutter your home: Choose a spot for all incoming papers
© homify / 4D Studio Architects and Interior Designers 3. Declutter your home: Choose a spot for all incoming papersFrom unopened mail to take-out menus, paper accounts for a lot of homes’ clutter. And one of the reasons contributing to this is because people tend to spread out their papers in different spots – some on the kitchen counter, others in the study, and others merely piled onto the dining room table.
Your 5-minute task here? Designate an inbox tray in your home for ALL incoming papers – no exceptions. Then scrutinise your little inbox tray to distinguish between important school papers, receipts, useless manuals, etc.
4. Declutter your home: Relocate 5 pieces
© homify / 4D Studio Architects and Interior Designers 4. Declutter your home: Relocate 5 piecesSearch around your home for 5 things that you still use, but never really store in the same place because they don’t have actual storing spots. Consider what you use these 5 things for, in which rooms you mostly use them, and then find a good spot.
Do this for everything in your home until, finally, there is a thing for everything and everything in its place.
5. Declutter your home: Tackle your medicine cabinet
© homify / 4D Studio Architects and Interior Designers 5. Declutter your home: Tackle your medicine cabinetDon’t overlook your home’s private areas, like bathrooms and medicine cabinets. Examine everything carefully to see which medicines are outdated (toss them), which ones you will never use again (toss those, too), etc. Then create one final medicine spot (that is if you don’t have a medicine cabinet in your bathroom already) and commit to storing ALL usable medications there ALL the time.
